CALOBA Elected New President

Carol

At the November 15, 2014 Board meeting,  CALOBA's Board of Directors elected Carol Leung, currently Vice President of CALOBA and Associate Counsel at ArcSoft, Inc, as its next president. Carol will begin serving as CALOBA's president for two years starting January 1, 2015.  She will succeed retiring President Alex Nie, a Special Counsel at Sheppard Mullin, who has served as CALOBA's President since February, 2013.

During her tenure as CALOBA's Vice President in 2013-2014, Carol led membership development and oversaw and co-organized a number of  signature events. The board has been tremendously impressed with Carol's leadership and dedication to CALOBA. In addition, the Board noted that Carol is the right choice to continue CALOBA's remarkable, positive momentum and will continue to advance its core missions, which Carol helped refine:

  • Enhancing professional development for the members;
  • Engaging the local Chinese community, and
  • Promoting communications and collaboration of legal and business matters between the U.S. and China

Message from the New President

It is a great honor to be elected as the next president of CALOBA. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our current president Alex Nie for his great leadership in the past two years. I also want to thank the executive team members and board members for their enormous contributions in organizing and participating in CALOBA events.

With the dedication and support from our members, CALOBA has grown to become an organization with increasing influence in the legal communities in the Bay Area, fostering dialogue and mutual understanding of the U.S. and Chinese laws between legal professionals of the two countries. In the coming year, CALOBA will strive to continue offering interesting and relevant events and activities for our members, including professional development seminars, networking events, as well as legal talks that benefit the communities.

We appreciate your continued participation and support. I look forward to meeting many of you at our events. Please feel free to email me directly if you have any suggestions.

Carol
