About the Speakers:
Roger Shang is Senior Legal Director at Alibaba Group. He jointed Alibaba in 2008 as its first Chief Patent Counsel and oversaw the development of its patent program. He is now based in Alibaba’s San Mateo office and works on international patent portfolio development, IP licensing and technology collaboration, open source and NPE defense matters. Prior to joining Alibaba, Roger practiced patent law at Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP and Knobbe Martens LLP. He grew up in Shanghai, China and received his J.D. Degree from NYU.
Yuji Sun is Associate General Counsel at HP Inc. Currently he serves as the primary legal counsel for HP's services and solutions business groups located in Palo Alto, California. At HP, he has provided legal support to various mobile and PC business units and product lines focusing on areas such as complex commercial transactions, cross-border transactions, IP licensing and regulatory matters. Prior to joining HP, Yuji was an associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati where he advised hi-tech companies on corporate securities matters and mergers/acquisitions. Before coming to the U.S. 10+ years ago, Yuji practiced at a PRC law firm and the Shanghai office of a U.S. law firm, representing multinationals doing business in China. Yuji has law degrees from the U.S. (JD, Northwestern University) and China (LL.B, Fudan University). He is licensed to practice in CA, NY and China (inactive).
