CALOBA Community Volunteering: San Jose Rose Garden

April 27 @ 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Come to help our community garden for a new season!

What can be a better way to celebrate the EARTH DAY by volunteering at a community garden? You are cordially invited to join CALOBA’s community volunteering event at the San Jose Rose Garden to care for the earth and ourselves!

WHO? Everyone is welcome, including your family members (we apologize that we will not be able to accommodate children under age 12, you know, gardening shears and babies don’t go well together)

WHAT ARE NEEDED? Please dress appropriately for dealing with dirt, garden debris, and rose thorns. Please bring your own gloves and gardening shears (if possible, please also share the extra gardening shears you have to spread the fun). The Garden also has some tools, and you may come without shears.

WHAT ARE WE DOING? We will do some spring pruning, deadheading roses, general flowering beds cleaning and weeding (we saved manuring for next time, you are welcome!)

LET THE FUN CONTINUE: After the volunteering activities, participants may go to Park Station Hashery (7 min walk from the Rose Garden). Whoever would like to hang out with the group afterward is welcome to join! Park Station Hashery has a nice outdoor patio for us to chat and connect. We will split the bill for lunch. If you are interested in joining us, please answer the registration questions about the total number of people coming and whether you are staying for lunch.

NOTE: You are welcome to join us for lunch only and hang out with fellow CALOBA members! Just register and come to Park Station Hashery at noon, a great place to relax and enjoy!

We are very much looking forward to working with you to make the San Jose Rose Garden, the largest public rose collection in the Western Hemisphere, into an even cleaner and prettier paradise for the community!
