CALOBA Panel Discussion: Demystifying Crypto

A panel discussion on cryptocurrency regulation and compliance

Cryptocurrency is a technological development that is going mainstream. Yet the regulation and legal framework in the fields are far behind the markets, and the recent volatility in cryptocurrency further magnfies its mystery. How is cryptocurrency regulated, cross-borders? What are the main legal issues and the best practices surrounding cryptocurrency?

The Chinese American Lawyers of the Bay Area (CALOBA) proudly hosts a Zoom panel discussion to demystify cryptocurrency. We have invited a group of seasoned lawyers in cryptocurrency to offer their insight. A Q & A session will follow the panel discussion. Please come and join us online!

Panelist Profiles

Natasha Allen is a partner at Foley & Lardner LLP, where she serves as Co-Chair for Artificial Intelligence within our Innovative Technology sector and Co-Chair of the Venture Capital Committee. Natasha counselled startups and emerging companies on debt and equity financing, venture capital financing, and general corporate matters across a variety of industries including Artificial Intelligence, FinTech, robotics, and life sciences. Natasha received her J.D. Degree from Queen’s University Faculty of Law and Master of Taxation from the University of Waterloo.

Miranda Ma is currently Associate General Counsel, Ecosystem of Coinbase. Miranda started legal career as a corporate lawyer with Clifford Chance and stumbled into crypto world in 2018, as Head of Legal of a leading crypto exchange, OKCoin USA in their SF office. Miranda has years of experience with blockchain transactions. Miranda received an LLM from University of California, Berkeley.

Rui Zhang is Associate General Counsel at 0x Labs, a "Web 3" software company that develops blockchain-based technology. She advises her team on corporate and regulatory matters. Prior to 0x Labs, Rui worked as a legal counsel at CITIC Group, one of China’s largest financial institutions. She also co-founded a venture-backed startup in the blockchain and energy space. Rui holds an MPP from Harvard Kennedy School, an LLM from Cornell Law School, and an LLB from Peking University.
